Characteristic properties
Contains no more than 3% essential oil of rose damascena dispersed in the aqueous solution together with organic matter that comes from the distillation of the petals of the damascena rose.
It has a small proportion of geraniol and citronellol so in the case of the rose hydroxide the fragrance of the hydrolate reminds a lot to the essential oil.
It also contains trace elements that appear in the petals of the rose.
The pH ranges between 3 - 5.
Due to its total lack of preservatives should be kept refrigerated especially in the summer months.
Uses and applications
In food
There are multiple sweets and recipes that include the hydrolate of roses within its composition.
You can take a small teaspoon in cases of stress, insomnia and nervousness as it has calming and emotional regulating effects.
It is the hydrolate of the Heart chakra. It has also been used as a coadjuvant in the treatment of smoking cessation, gluttony and excessive consumption of alcohol.
In external use
Very used as a facial tonic especially indicated in oily skin since it acts as a sebum regulator as well as soothing.
It can be used on ocular mucous membranes, taking care to limit its use to 24 hours after unsealed the container.
It is widely used in the formulation of cosmetic emulsions, shampoos, lotions and wraps.
